Grand Island, NE – Central District Health Department (CDHD) has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address lead-based paint hazards in homes across Hall, Hamilton, and Merrick Counties. The funding will support testing and removal of lead-based paint in qualifying homes to protect residents, especially young children from the serious health effects of lead exposure. Central District Health Department (CDHD) recently placed Purple Air Monitors at these six sites across the Central District: the CDHD building, Wood River High School, Silver Creek City Shop, Central City High School, Giltner High School and Aurora Edgerton Explorit Center. At each site, a QR code is available to scan and get real-time air quality readings.
